Chavan to be sworn-in as Maharashtra CM today

Mumbai, Nov 11: Prithviraj Chavan will take oath as the Maharashtra Chief Minister on Wednesday, Nov 11, along with his newly appointed deputy Ajit Pawar.

Both Chavan and Pawar met the governor on Wednesday, Nov 10 to submit letters of support of their respective legislators and stake claim to form the new government.

"We have submitted letter of support from 170 MLAs to the governor. He has named me as the new Maharashtra chief minister and Ajit Pawar as the new deputy chief minister. We will take the oath tomorrow (Thursday)," Chavan said after meeting governor K Sankaranarayanan in the Raj Bhavan.

Chavan and Pawar were accompanied by leaders of the Maharashtra alliance - Congress and Nationalist Congress Party.

As per reports, swearing-in ceremony is likely to be held at 4:30 pm.
