Patna, Nov 8: Ahead of the fifth phase of polling in Bihar, Maoists blew up a railway track near Kurhani railway station, derailing a goods train and disrupting rail traffic on the line.
The blast was triggered in the wee hours of Monday, Nov 8 morning. The blast caused wagons of a goods train derail when the train passed the station in Hajipur-Muzaffarpur section of East-Central Railway in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district.
According to DGP Neelmani, as many as 50 red rebels triggered the dynamite blast, which subsequently also caused disruption of rail traffic since 3 am.
He informed that trains were being diverted from Hajipur to Muzaffarpur via Sahpur-Patori station.
Rail traffic on Mughalsarai , which was affected following Maoists threat to plant bombs during a bandh call by them, has been restored under Mughalsarai division of ECR.
The operations were restored after the bomb disposal squad confirmed that there was no bomb planted on the track, Neelmani added.
The Maoist violence has been reported a day ahead of the fifth phase of polling, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Nov 9.
