Media should not decide Chavan's fate: Thackeray

Raj Thackeray
Mumbai, Nov 3: Criticising the kind of trail by media being carried out against Ashok Chavan in connection with the Adarsh housing society scam, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) boss Raj Thackeray has said that the Chief Minister should only face consequences if he is proven guilty, not because the media wants it.

"Only a section of media wants Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan to resign in the Adarsh Society scam is not a valid reason. Newspaper should not decide that. If Chief Minister was really involved in the scam, then only he should go," Raj Thackeray said on Wednesday, Nov 3.

Observing that the media-coverage of the scam was very confusing, Raj added, "It is difficult to understand the exact status."

He also was of the opinion that the Opposition parties' stand should be taken into consideration.

To a question if action should also be taken against bureaucrats involved in the scam, the MNS supremo, who replied in positive, said, "It is very unfortunate that no action is usually taken against bureaucrats. They only get transfered. Action has to be taken against them."

The media do not decide or dictate political decisions, or issues resulting from deplorable kind of poltiics. In any case the Chief Minister, as a leader among ruling politicians can only be expected to 'somehow' cling to his position. Raj shd also note that the Cong has no worthy alternative, even wee bit worthier than Chavan.
