Kalaikunda, Nov 3: The Indian Air Force (IAF) looked for upgrading its capabilities in north-eastern region in the country and it also planned to expand its strong wing in the northern part, so that it would take off from both places at same time.

"After the north-east, we will concentrate in the north, so that both can take off at the same time," he added.

The upgradation in the north-eastern region was a part of the Modernisation of Air Field Infrastructure (MAFI) project and included airfields in Bagdogra, Panagarh, Tezpur, Chabua, Saluwa and Guwahati.
