After Adarsh, Chavan lands in mining land scam

Nagpur, Nov 2: After the Adarsh housing society scam, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has landed in the controversy of allotting mining land.

RTI activist Vilas Wankhede alleged that Ashok Chavan has favoured party functionaries in allotting mining land.

Vilas Wankhede claimed that Chavan has allocated the prime mining lands to relatives of party officials when he was Industry Minister in 2008.

According to the information obtained from district mining officer in the district collectorate, Chavan allocated lands to sons of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief Manikrao Thakre and Yavatmal Congress MLA Wamanrao Kasawar.

The lands were allotted in Zari taluka of Yavatmal district and Dongargaon village.
