"Unruly" Kasab spits, vexes Bombay High Court

Ajmal Kasab
New Delhi, Oct 19: The behaviour of Ajmal Amir Kasab has begun to vex the Bombay High Court bench, which is hearing the arguments on confirmation of the death sentence awarded to him in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case.

According to TV news reports, Kasab on Tuesday, Oct 19 spit on the webcam that has been installed in his bomb and bullet-proof cell at Central Prison so as to allow him to be part of the court's hearing.

Arrangements have been made to let the hearing take place through video conference so that Kasab need not be taken out of the cell and transported to the court amid high threat perception to his life.

The terrorist, who was found scratching his head, stretching his hands and yawning on the first day of hearing, reportedly threw a tantrum on Tuesday, Oct 19.

"Send me to America's human rights court," he is quoted as saying, besides insisting that he should be taken to the court.

According to an NDTV report, the HC judges have described the Pakistani terrorist as "violent and unruly....he is not amenable to reason, dialogue."

Kasab, who has appealed in the High Court against his conviction and his sentence, was caught on camera attacking a jail official in Sep 2010.

The incident not only brought to light Kasab's unruly behaviour in prison but also prompted the court to rule that the terrorist can not consult with his lawyers unless jail officials and security guards can see and hear him.
