Mumbai, Sep 25: A minor brawl between gangster Abu Salem and Dawood Ibrahim"s henchman Mustafa Dossa in Arthur Road Jail on Saturday, Sep 25 took a serious turn when Dossa attack Salem leaving him to minor injury.
“We are still investigating. It will be premature to say what transpired. But a case has been registered against both," said senior police inspector Vasant Tajane.
Jail sources said the duo started fighting on their way to breakfast with verbal attacks, but after sometime the situation worsened as Dossa suddenly pounced on Salem and attacked him with a spoon.
“The local court has directed jail authorities to shift him to JJ Hospital. However, the officials are yet to act on the orders. A team of doctors have been made available to him on the jail premises. Reasons for the attack is not known," said his lawyer Rashid Ansari.
Salem was arrested by Interpol in Lisbon, Portugal, on Sep 20, 2002. His cases were mainly of murder and extortion.
Mustafa Dossa, an associate of the dreaded D-company, is an accused in another 1993 serial bomb blasts case.
