Rains continue to play havoc in N India, 90 dead

New Delhi, Sep 22: Rain continues to play havoc in north India as incessant downpour has led to floods and landslides in several states claiming as many as 90 lives.

Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are the states worst hit by the fury of rains. As Haryana continues to release more water into the Yamuna, Delhi continues to face threat of severe floods just days after of the Commonwealth Games.

While the rising water levels in Yamuna forced the closure of the railway bridge over the river disrupting the movement of trains to the old Delhi Railway Station, the continuing rains are proving top be a big hazard to the Games related projects.

Over two hundred villages as well as Mathura's famous Govardhan temple in Uttar Pradesh are submerged under water.

Even though the water level in Ganga is receding slowly, Haridwar continues to face trouble as rains triggered landslides in several parts.
