Consider JK as international crisis: Geelani

Jammu Kashmir map
Srinagar, Sep 21: Separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani clearly stated to the all party delegation on Sep 20 that he would only come to the dialogue table if the Indian government accept the Kashmir issue as an international and humanitarian crisis.

When a group of members from the delegation visited him on Sep 20, Geelani also demanded that the government has to accept their five-point programme, if they really want to bring the separatists to the dialogue table.

A group of MPs from the team also reached out to other separatists like Mirwaiz Omar Farooq and requested them to end the relentless cycle of violence that has left more than 100 people dead in the last three months.

Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz and Yasin Mallik, who atfirst rejected the invitation, finally decided to acquire a soften position and also received the delegation.

Yasin Mallik said in a statement, "We have decided not to go there physically but we have given our memorandum."

What can be achieved by internationalizing the crisis. That should be a last resort if the Indian government was not listening and not ready to engage in talks. I doubt the motives of these separatists. They are clearly lip synching for someone else. We all know who that someone else is.
