Nagaland orders probe over police firing

Kohima, Sep 20 : Taking serious note of the recent action by the Nagaland police on agitating students in Golaghat district of Assam, Nagaland government on Sunday, Sep 19 appealed to the All Assam Students" Union (AASU) to maintain calm over the issue.

The inquiry would be headed by principal secretary C J Ponraj and minister Imkong Imchen said.

“As neighbours, sometimes irritants happen but things have to be addressed in the spirit of cooperation as well as forgive and forget," Imkong said.

The incident had injured 20 students on the NH 39 near Rangajan Tinali when a group of Nagaland police caned them on Wednesday, Sep 15.

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said.
