Even though the advisory issued by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry cautioning participants and visitors states that the influenza activity has 'peaked' and is now 'declining', the statement listed out precautionary measures the visitors can take against contracting the H1N1 influenza.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has already announced that H1N1 influenza pandemic has moved into post-pandemic stage while localised outbreaks of various magnitude are likely to continue, the statement recalled.
The advisory not only asks the visitors to stay wary of any symptoms and assures that anyone who contracts the pandemic flu during the Games will be given access to consultation, diagnosis and treatment in government-notified health facilities, all free of charge.
The visitors have been advised to ascertain their vaccination status and carry the records, even though H1N1 vaccination was not made mandatory.
Listing out symptoms such as fever, running nose, sore throat and difficulty in breathing to look out for, the advisory said "If suffering from fever while on flight, contact on arrival the Help Desk at the Delhi International Airport for assistance."
The advisory also lists out precautions such as covering of mouth and nose during coughing or sneezing, washing of hands with soap, avoiding touching the eyes, nose or mouth and avoiding crowded places.
On Dengue
Observing that about 40 per cent of the world's population live in areas where there is a risk of dengue transmission, the advisory asks visitors to carry full-sleeve clothes, bring mosquito repellent creams, oils, mats or coils.
