Two-thirds of Internet users fall prey to online crime: Study

Melbourne, Sep 9, (ANI): A new survey has revealed that two-thirds of adults globally have been victims of some or the other form of online crime.

More than 7000 adults from 14 countries took part in the Norton Cybercrime Report The Human Aspect, which found an alarming number of Internet users are exposed to online crime.

Sexual predators, online credit card fraud and social networking together account for seven per cent of cyber crime worldwide.

Viruses and malware make up 51 per cent of online crime and phishing - a type of fraud where criminals try to get sensitive information such as user names, passwords and credit card details - accounts for nine per cent.

"Cyber criminals are lurking in the places where people are downloading illegal content, and they're using those channels to distribute threats," News.com.au quoted the report as saying. (ANI)

Thailand not to take legal action against Google

Bangkok, May 11: The Thai government will not take legal action against Google after the leading global internet company agreed to remove offensive video clips from its popular YouTube Web site. Thai Information and Communications Minister Sitthichhai Pookaiyaudom said Google vice-president Kent Walker had informed in a letter to the Thai government that video clips deemed offensive to the monarchy would be removed from the site.
