Ashok Chavan's bungalow receives threat call

Mumbai, Sep 5: An unidentified person called Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's bungalow claiming to be a member of the terrorist outfit al-Qaeda, police said on Saturday, Sep 4.

However, the Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal said it was a prank call and they have identified the prankster and will take him into police custody soon.

"No member of a terrorist outfit will threaten after having named the organisation he works for," Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal said.

However, Dayal refused to divulge further details of the call or identify the prankster.

Bird flu spreads to new areas in Assam

Kamrup (Assam), Dec 6: With a fresh outbreak of bird flu in poultry being detected in Assam, authorities are prepared to start the culling of thousands of chickens.Reports say the virus has spread to the districts of Barpeta and Nalbari from Hajo in Kamrup District, where it was first reported. Samples were sent to laboratories in Bhopal and have tested positive for H5N1 avian influenza.The State Government has ordered culling operations and culling officers have already started going.....
