iTunes Ping, Apple's music version of Facebok

Apple iTunes 10
San Fracisco, Sep 2: Apple Inc launched the latest version of the world's most popular media player, iTunes, with a social networking tool called 'Ping'.

The new iTunes 10 has a new logo and the new feature Ping helps the users to enjoy the albums they have and to discover new music. Ping allows the users to share favourite music with others in their Ping network. The users can also see what musics their friends have bought or enjoyed, what concerts they plan to attend and what music they have reviewed.

Ping users can also follow their bands and get updates on their new releases, concert tours and other events. The service will be instantly available to 160 million iTunes users, as long as they download the latest version of the software. Apple says Ping is like a combination of Twitter and Facebook for music.

Using Ping, users can post text, pictures and comment on other's posts or Like them and can also send each other messages. Ping will not just be available on the desktop version of iTunes but on the iOS devices as well.

"Ping is super easy to use. It is a social music discovery feature that lets you follow people or be followed. We've made it even more elegant and simple. It looks even better," said Steve Jobs, Apple CEO.
