Mobile web use: Indian females are lowest in World

Mobile phones
Bangalore, Sep 1: A new study in the field of mobile web usage revealed that only four percent of Indian mobile web users are female.

The study conducted by the Opera to understand the state of mobile web usage in the world revealed that four percent of Indian users are female, which is very low compared to the worldwide average of 23 percent. The study also revealed the gender gap in Indian mobile web usage is the widest in the world.

Opera study also reveals that the African nation, South Africa, is the country having the highest percentage of female mobile web users.

The reasons figured out for this phenomenon was the lower literacy rates among females in India and the higher number of males employed in the IT sector of India. The jobs and the socio-cultural order in India give males an easy access to mobile gadgets.
