HCL employee shot at in Noida restro-bar

Crime
Noida, Aug 31: A 26-year-old IT executive was shot at in a popular restro-bar in Noida Sector 18 on Sunday, Aug 29 night.

Media reports on the incident give different accounts on what ensued at the restro-bar before the victim, an employee of HCL, received bullet injuries from a pistol.

Popular tabloid, Mid-Day, reported on Monday, Aug 30 that the eyewitnesses claimed that one person fired a bullet after a minor argument while the police claimed that the revolver went off accidentally.

"A man was holding the revolver when suddenly it fell on the floor and went off. The bullet hit the victim in his leg. The owner of the gun immediately fled the spot leaving his gun behind," a senior police officer is quoted as saying.

The incident reportedly took place in Vinny's Bar and Restaurant, a very popular food joint in Noida.

Quoting an employee of the Restaurant, the tabloid reported that a person who was claiming to be a politician was carrying the pistol.

Another leading daily Times of India, which reported the incident on Tuesday, Aug 31, stated that the firing was an accident.

The newspaper said that the owner of the gun was "in a white dress" and was accompanied by few others.

"Suddenly a revolver fell off his pocket and a bullet got fired accidentally. The bullet first hit the foam sheet of the chair on which Sachin was sitting and grazed the victim's hip before getting lodged at a table below," SSP (Gautambudh Nagar) A K Singh is quoted as saying.

The Noida police has recorded the statements of all those present at the restro-bar when the firing took place but is yet to file a complaint.

While speaking to TOI, the SSP denied that police was "deliberately hushing up" the case as an influential politician was involved in the incident.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at Kailash Hospital.
