New Delhi, Aug 25: Vedanta Resources is not quitting from India, in spite of the fact that government rejected to give clearance to its bauxite mining project in Orissa, said Vedanta Aluminium official on Tuesday, Aug 24.

The official said, "the company is not frustrated and is not leaving India despite the setback."

He also claimed that the environment ministry did not provide the company to express its state.

"The mines do not belong to Vedanta. We will seek to present our case to MoEF once again," he added.

Chief Minister of Orissa, Naveen Patnaik also expressed his disgrace over Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh's rejection of clearance to Vedanta's mining project.

"I hope this is not politics," said Patnaik and added that the ministry should have given the clearance as the mining project would increase the job opportunity in the state.

"These investments in Orissa were meant to generate jobs for the people and add to the state's revenue. Therefore, they should be given go ahead," claimed Orissa CM.

He also informed that the state government would inquire that on which ground, the ministry rejected the clearance and would take correct and appropriate steps on the matter.

It is Govt. of India Pitfalls. They do not go into the clearances or vetting before implementing the project. Same thing happened with Tata in Singur.I think Govt. and respective deptt. should be pro-active before dispute arise.
