Ghaziabad, Aug 17: An engineering student allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the roof of his hostel building on Sunday, Aug 15 near Ghaziabad.

Abhishek Sahai, 19-year-old was taken to hospital where he was in coma for a while before he died.

Abhishek's family members claimed that he sent his friend a text message saying he was being ragged and soon after that jumped off the hostel roof.

"A friend of his had gone to meet him and he sent him a text message saying, 'I can't come, I'm being ragged.' The message is still there on the cell phone and there's a message on Facebook too," said Abhishek's brother Shrivanshu.

The college, however, denies ragging case behind his death.

"There was no ragging. He was up there alone. His classmates also confirmed this. Nobody can access the roof except 1st year students as it is surrounded by fences," said Anil Verma, the PRO of Abhishek's college.
