Leh: India seeks Pak's help to rescue soldiers

New Delhi, Aug 9: India has sought the help of Pakistan to search for 33 soldiers, who are feared to have been washed away in the Leh flash floods caused by cloudbursts towards the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Jawans and three junior commissioned officers (JCOs), who were manning a post near Turtok along the Line of Control (LoC), are untraceable, a senior army officer said.

They have been missing ever since Shyok river swelled up and washed away people and erections in the surrounding area in the downpour on Friday, Aug 6.

The officer added that the Indian army has now sought the help of Pakistani authorities to help rescue the 33 personnel of 15 Bihar infantry regiment.

"The soldiers are feared to have been swept away towards PoK and we have sought help from Pakistan to trace them," the officer said.
