Infosys fumes over US senator's "chop shop" insult

Infosys
Bangalore, Aug 9: Expressing distress over US senator's remarks terming it a 'chop shop', India"s second largest software exporter Infosys has urged the government to take up the issue with American authorities.

“We are distressed. We are operating like any other corporate office in the US. We follow all rules… We want the India government to seriously take up the issue with the US," Mohan Das Pai, the human resources head of Infosys is quoted as saying in media reports.

Ealier, speaking to a leading private TV news channel, senior Infosys official had slammed the senator Charles E Schumer's statment as an "insult".

The comments from Schumer, a Democrat Senator, came on Sunday, Aug 8 during discussions on the Border Security Bill.

"The emergency border funds will be paid for by assessing fees on foreign companies known as chop shops that outsource good, high-paying American technology jobs to lower wage, temporary immigrant workers from other countries. These are companies such as Infosys," he had said.

The bill, which proposes USD 600-million emergency package to bolster security along the porous Mexican border, has also led to hike in application fees for visas like H-1B. This is expected to hit the Indian IT companies and professionals adversely.

The term chop shop aptly describes infosys. Infact i wonder if it is too mild. Infosys makes the lower end employees wrk like slaves with paltry wages and no wrk life balance. middle management is very mediocre and plays politics and creates havoc in software engineer's life.Fat lot of values it has got. Govt. shud interfere to prevent such body shopping and illegal labour
