Srinagar, Aug 3: Amid spiralling violence, shoot- at-sight orders were issued by police in curfew-bound Srinagar as 3 more persons were killed in firing by security forces.

The shoot-at-sight orders were announced through public address systems fitted in police vans in areas of Dal Gate, Residency Road and All India Radio Crossing in the city, police said.

"Security forces had to open fire for self defence and for dispersal of mobs at few places, in which 3 persons have lost their lives and a number of police and CRPF men got injured," police said.

Protesters defied curfew restrictions in Srinagar, Budgam, Bandipora, Awantipora, Kulgam and Baramulla and indulged in heavy stone pelting on security personnel. They attacked public and police properties at a number of places, a police spokesman said.

With three more deaths in the fresh violence that erupted in Kashmir since Friday, Jul 30 the total death toll has risen to 26.

Five injured in Kashmir highway accident

Srinagar, Jan 31: Five people were injured in two separate road accidents on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, official sources said today. They said two people were injured, when a car collided head-on with a truck near tool post at Qazigund on the highway. Three others were injured in similar accident at Pampore on the highway.The injured were admitted to hospitals, they added. UNI.....
