Washington, Jul 28: US president Barack Obama told that the information contained in 90,000 classified documents leaked by website, WikiLeaks, did not provide anything new about the conflict in Afghanistan.

On Sunday, Jul 25 website, WikiLeaks, had leaked more than 90,000 classified documents.

The documents exposed the details on the death of thousands of civilians in the military operations by the coalition troops, surge in Taliban attacks and the fears of NATO that Pakistan and Iran were fuelling insurgency.

Obama revealed that the 90,000 classified documents from 2004-2009 came before he revised the military and civilian strategy and the information was already part of the public debate on how to move forward.

"While I"m concerned about the disclosure of sensitive information from the battlefield that could potentially jeopardize individuals or operations, the fact is, these documents don"t reveal any issues that haven"t already informed our public debate on Afghanistan," said Obama.

"Indeed, they point to the same challenges that led me to conduct an extensive review of our policy last fall," he added.
