France declares war on al-Qaeda, attack begins

Paris, Jul 28: France Prime Minister Francois Fillon told that France has declared war against al-Qaeda. France PM declared this after the death of a French humanitarian worker by the terrorist group.

Michel Germaneau, humanitarian worker was kidnapped by al-Qaeda in Niger on Apr 20, 2010 and later was taken to Mali.

On Monday, Jul 26, France President Nicolas Sarkozy has announced the death of Michel Germaneau.

On Tuesday, Jul 27 French army attacked the base camp of the al-Qaeda's North African branch.
