Kabul Conference starts amid tight security

Kabul, Jul 20: Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai opened the Kabul Conference On Tuesday, Jul 20 amid tight security to seek more international community's support for Afghan's rebuilding.

The first-ever biggest international conference on Afghanistan held inside the post-Taliban country aims at charting a new course on how billions in development aid are to be spent in the next few years.

Delegates include United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki- moon and representatives from 57 countries, including 40 foreign ministers and 11 representatives from regional and international organisations.

The main dockets of the Kabul Conference are enhancing the capacity of the Afghan security forces, political reform, reconciliation with Taliban militants and improving governance, including the fight against endemic administrative corruption.
