Paris, Jul 13: The lower house of parliament in France on Tuesday, Jul 13 will vote for the controversial bill whether to ban the public wearing of the face-covering burqas worn by some Muslim women. As majority of voters support the ban, Senate is expected to follow the suit in September, 2010.
Three members of the Green party are expected to vote against the veil-ban where as the opposition Socialists have decided to boycott the vote.
The council of the state had warned French government that the French law and European Union could find the bill unconstitutional since it deviates human rights and religious freedom.
The main body representing French Muslims said that veils are not necessary by Islam and not suitable in France, but may concern the Muslims in general.
The ban on veil would make it illegal to cover the face in public and the violation of the law could reward the people a fine of $190 or be ordered to enroll in a 'citizenship course'. Those who compel the wives or daughters to wear veil would have to pay a fine of $37,754 and a one-year imprisonment.
