Spanish media hails "Champions of the World"

Spain
Madrid, Jul 12: While the fans are still in a state of frenzy induced by the victory of Spain at the FIFA World Cup 2010, the Spanish media has taken the celebrations a step forward by immortalising the football heroes in print.

Almost all the newspapers plastered a huge picture of the Captain and Goal keeper Iker Casillas
holding or kissing the trophy surrounded by his team mates.

Above the picture, the top-selling daily El Pais said, 'Champions of the world', and added "The national team has consolidated the leadership of a dazzling generation".

ABC also called them "Champions".

"It is the biggest success in the history of Spanish football, a title which when added to other no less relevant titles, places Spain in the leadership of the major spanish sports like basketball, tennis, cycling or motorcycle racing," the right-wing newspaper's editorial read.

Centre-right daily El Mundo wrote "From here to eternity".

Other newspapers the termed the all-European final showdown at FIFA World Cup 2010 as 'epic' and 'historic'.

The newspapers hit the news stands after an all-night party at the centre of Madrid, where an estimated 250,000 watched the nail-biting match in which Spain upset the Dutch 1-0 in with an extra-time goal from Andres Iniesta.

"Iniesta Presidente! Iniesta Presidente!", "Ole"- these were the chants heard after the match as Madrid was decorated red and gold.
