Headley's Israt Jahaan revelation stings govt

BJP
New Delhi, Jul 7: The Pakistani American terrorist, David Coleman Headley's reported revelation that Ishrat Jahaan was a Lashkar-e-Toiba suicide bomber, has become the latest Opposition tool against UPA government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now asked the government to "admit or deny the existence of the facts stated in the Headley report".

“The Union government so far had no objection to discredit the Gujarat police even though it meant giving respectability to a LeT fidayeen. Having misled the nation and probably the courts in this regard, it is now incumbent on the Union government to admit or deny the existence of the facts stated in the Headley report," BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad remarked.

The party has not only attacked the government but has also slammed the 'liberals' for raising questions against the Gujarat police over the Jun 2004 encounter.

The Gujarat police had killed the Mumbai girl along with two other Pakistani nationals in an encounter on the suspicion that the they were in the state to kill Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

While the central government supported the Gujarat police initially, once the human rights activists started raising a cry over the alleged fake encounter, the union government backtracked.

It was Ishrat Jahaan mother, Shamima Kausar, who first accused the police of killing her 'innocent' daughter in a fake encounter.
