Manila, Jun 30: Benigno Aquino III was sworn in as Philippines' fifteenth President on Wednesday, Jun 30. He took his oath of office at Rizal Park in Central Manila. He also bid a farewell to his predecessor Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
He took the charge of Philippines President for the term of six years during which he vowed to fight corruption and poverty.
Mr. Aquino, who won the Presidential election in May 2010, is the son of late democracy icons president Corazon Aquino and senator Benigno Aquino Junior, who was assassinated.
Aquino who kept his speech short and straight, also called for the people's support and said that the work cannot be done by himself alone.
