England must-win to qualify

Wayne Rooney must come good for England-source--http://www.topnews.in/
Port Elizabeth: It's a must-win game for Fabio Capello and his English side when they take on Slovenia if they are to progress to the last 16.

England team after their disappointing opening two games, will have to secure a win against Slovenia who just need a draw to see them through to the last 16.

England in their opening match scored the opening goal through Steven Gerard but Robert Green's goalkeeping error cost them a win, cost them invaluable 2 points.

And against the Algeria side they were completely out of tune and never seemed like scoring a goal, eventually finishing the match with 0-0 draw.

England will step on the pitch without their key defenders Ledley King who is out of the World Cup squad due to injury and Jamie Carragher who has been suspended for a match. And there has been a controversy that their key defender Terry initiated a team discussion with Capello about where England were going wrong. In the end Terry did apologize to the coach and the camp and started training keeping aside all the issues.

The England fans were much disappointed after their lackluster performance against the Algeria team. The England players have much to prove and bring the England World Cup campaign alive when they take on Slovenia tonight.

On the other side captain Robert Koren and his Slovenia side are focused to make it to the last 16. Slovenia are topping the group with 4 points and require just a draw against the English side to see them through. Koren and co were eight minutes away from securing a place in the knockout phase when Michael Bradley's goal for the United States meant they took one point from their second Group C game instead of three.

Marko Suler, their central defender who injured himself during their clash against USA is still not fully fit and will be replaced by Matej Mavric and Nejc Pecnik, who featured as a substitute in their previous match has an ankle injury and will be flying home for treatment.

Players to watch out for:

Slovenia: Valter Birsa, Milivoje Novakovic, Zlatan Ljubijankic

England: Steven Gerard, Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard
