Bangalore, Jun 9: IT giant, Infosys is partnering with a US institute to establish a research institution in Karnataka's capital and the IT hub of India, Bangalore.
With its partnership with Georgia Institute of Technology, Infosys aims at setting up centres for excellence in information technology and information systems, energy systems, biotechnology and infrastructure studies here.
The deal was sealed when Infosys Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kris Gopalakrishnan and Georgia Tech's provost and vice president for academic affairs Gary Schuster signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently, Infosys said in a statement on Tuesday, Jun 8.
Infosys will collaborate on research projects of mutual interest in these areas of technology.
"Infosys has been collaborating with leading universities and research institutions across the globe, working with some of the best and brightest minds to develop and nurture ecosystems of research and innovation. Our association with Georgia Tech and the research programmes we undertake will focus on emerging technologies to develop client-specific business solutions," Gopalakrishnan said.
Due to the company's growing presence in Atlanta and Hyderbad, the locations have emerged as collaborative opportunities.
"Georgia Tech is exploring the possibility of establishing a small, high quality post-graduate research institution in Hyderabad. The proposed Georgia Tech facility will include centres for excellence in information technology and information systems, energy systems, biotechnology and infrastructure studies," the company statement added.
