India- US strategic dialogue starts today

Washington DC, June 3: India and United States will continue building strong bilateral ties with first off its strategic dialogue initiative after the visit of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last year to India. June 3 will mark inaugural strategic dialogue between the two countries that will discuss the future direction of the US-India relationship and US and Indian strategic interests in Asia.

In June 2-3 strategic dialogue External affairs minister SM Krishnan and US secretary of state Hillary Clinton will discuss an entire gamut of bilateral, regional and global issues. “It will give direction to the programmes currently under implementation and take initiatives to further the Indian and US developmental, security and economic interests," said Vishnu Prakash the spokesperson of external affairs ministry.

The issues which mainly will be discussed in the dialogue includes issues related to high technology trade, science & technology, civil nuclear cooperation, agriculture, human resource development, security and other strategic issues.

Industry's apex body Ficci has organized month-long programmes in an effort to take the Indo-US relationship in trade and economy to the next level.

US investment in India as Ficci will facilitate the Invest India programme and Indian investment in the US, which is now picking up after the recession, would be other major issues to be discussed.
