New advisory council to look into air safety

New Delhi, June 3: A 28 member panel headed by Directorate General of Civil Aviation S N A Zaidi has been appointed to look into the Mangalore air crash and also to recommend best suitable measures and regulatory practices in air operations to beef up air safety in India.

Civil aviation Minister Praful Patel inaugurated Civil Aviation Safety Advisory Council (CASAC) the high level aviation advisory board which met for the first time here on Thursday, June 3 to discuss air safety issues.

The board comprises of CEO'S  of all major airlines plus members of the DGCA but strangely no current pilot or ATC official is included in this board which majorly deals with safety issues.

New Delhi, Dec 12: India has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MAO) with the Federal Aviation Authority of the United States to pave way for technical assistance on host of aviation related matter, Rajya Sabha was informed today. Answering to the questions of Mr Rajiv Shukla (Congress), Shobhana Bhartiya (Independent) and Vijay Darda (Congress), Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel said the main features of the agreement included providing technical and managerial expertise.....
