Somalian man siezed US ship, escaped imprisonment
Manhattan, May 19: Abduwali Abdukhadir Muse, a man from Somalia pleaded guilty to seizing an American ship in the Indian Ocean in 2009. He managed to escape imprisonment as the prosecutors decided not to file a formal charge against him.

He pleaded guilty on Monday, May 17 in federal court in Manhattan to seizing the ship. Attorneys said that they would no longer slap any charges on him.

According to sentencing guidelines, Muse could have faced between 27 years and 33 years, nine months in prison.

The pirate's attorney remarked the sentence as 'reasonable'.

The man was captured by the US Navy after a hard operation on the high seas, 2009.
