Capgemini to hire 4,000 by Jun 2010
Mumbai, May 17: Enjoying a positive growth in business, French IT major Capgemini is planning on increasing its Indian workforce by recruiting 4,000 by the end of Jun 2010.

The company's huge recruitment plans were revealed on Friday, May 14 with company officials informing the media on them.

Quoting Cyprian D'Souza, head of people resource management at Capgemini India, ComputerWorld reported that the Paris-based IT services and consulting company sees India as central to its 'rightshore' delivery model, which gives customers the option of multiple delivery locations, including offshore delivery.

India is currently the largest services delivery location for the company worldwide and is set to grow, the Capgemini official added.

Salil Parekh, the executive chairman of Capgemini India confirmed the hiring plans to a leading business publication, the Business Standard.

“India continues to develop in local and international business and is core to our Rightshore approach. We plan to see accelerating momentum in our headcount growth throughout the year," Parekh is quoted as saying.

The move to expand the Indian workforce reflects the company"s strategy to leverage its offshore presence, the Business Standard pointed out.

During the first quarter, Capgemini hired 2,500 workers in India taking the total staff in the country to 23,353 people.
