Singapore, May 13: Low cost carrier Jetstar based in Australia will soon commence its long-haul flights out of Changi airport of Singapore. It will be the first carrier to do so in Singapore, according to the local media reports.
Services will commence under the airline 's new 30-seater Airbus 330-200 aircraft. The first aircraft will reach to Singapore in Nov 2010 while the other is due for delivery early 2011.
Though the Jetstar executives were not ready to disclose anything related to routes, but pointed out that they are looking at numerous options available with them regarding the points of operation including North Asia, Australia and Southern Europe, including Rome and France, local newspaper the Straits Times reported.
The spokesperson for Jetstar Asia in Singapore said the idea is to launch two routes by the time the second aircraft arrives. This decision will bring smiles on the faces of travellers in the region who only had one option flying long-haul on low-cost carrier AirAsia X that operates out of Kuala Lumpur.
