Nithyananda fights for return of Rudrakshamala

Nithyananda fights for return of Rudrakshamala
Bangalore, Apr 29: It is going to be a long wait for those awaiting legal action against the 'sleaze Swami' Nithyananda, as the investigating officers and the court are being forced to bear with the godman's health complaints and his cries on officers hurting religious sentiments.

The Karnataka's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths are facing tough time in getting Nithyananda to co-operate with the questioning as he complained of health issues.

Earlier in the week, sex scandal tainted-Nithyananda was taken to the Jayadeva Hospital in Bangalore after he complained of chest pain. He was discharged on Tuesday, Apr 27 after he was subjected to observation for over 16 hours.

All the medical reports pointed at normalcy and the Swamiji was taken back to the custody after the hospital gave him a 'healthy' certificate.

With this, the two-day custody period came to an end without the sleuths getting any time with the accused to conduct questioning. Citing this, the CID officials on Wednesday, Apr 8 asked the district court at Ramanagaram to extend Nithyananda's custody for another six days.

However, the CID sleuths had to be content with the court's ruling of two-day custody extension. Nithyanada's devotee Nitya Bhaktananda will also be in the custody for the same period.

Besides health issues, the Swamiji has reportedly raised a cry against the CID officials for taking away his Rudrakshamala. According to a report in Times of India, he complained to the court that by taking away the mala the police officers were hurting his religious sentiments.

However, on hearing the CID's argument that the step was taken only to ensure the safety of the accused as he could hurt himself using the beads tied together with a string, the court ruled against the Swamiji saying that it did not wish to interfere with the sleuths' decision.
