Soren's son apologizes to BJP for father's mistake

New Delhi, Apr 29: In an apparent attempt to calm the BJP's nerves, Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren's son, Hemant said on Wednesday, Apr 28, that his father was ready to resign if the BJP wants to form the government in Jharkhand.

Hemant Soren asked the BJP to reconsider its decison to withdraw support from the Soren government, adding that his father was ready to step down if he had hurt the sentiments of its coalition party by voting in favor of the UPA in the cut motion.

"Shibu Soren is ready to resign if the BJP leadership thinks his voting against the cut motion has hurt it and BJP should review its decision to withdraw support to Jharkhand government," Soren's son Hemant told a press conference here.

"He (Shibu Soren) made a mistake by supporting the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government on the cut motion," Hemant Soren added.

Soren drew the BJP's ire when he surprisingly voted in favor of the UPA in the cut motion on Tuesday, Apr 27, which eventually led to the BJP's defeat.

Feeling betrayed by his action, BJP announced its decision to withdraw support from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government in Jharkhand.
