George Bush and wife poisoned?

New York, Apr 29: In a shocking revelation, former US first lady Laura Bush has disclosed in her upcoming autobiography that she and her husband George W Bush could have been poisoned in Germany in 2007 as the couple fell sick during the summit, the New York Times reported on Wednesday, Apr 27.

In her book 'Spoken from the Heart', which is scheduled to be released in May 2010, Laura said that the US Secret Service had investigated a possible poisoning of the presidential delegation at the G8 summit.

The then US President George W Bush had to spent part of the summit in bed.

The report quoted her as saying that the doctor had concluded the couple had contacted a virus.

"However we never learned if any other delegations became ill, or if ours, mysteriously, was the only one," Laura Bush wrote.

She also mentioned about her fatal car crash in Nov 1963 in Texas, when she was 17-year-old. A driver and another fellow student were killed in the incident.

"I lost my faith that November, lost it for many, many years," she writes.

"It was the first time that I had prayed to God for something, begged him for something, not the simple childhood wishing on a star but humbly begging for another human life. And it was as if no one heard."

According to the Times report, the book is devoted to slamming criticism against her husband. The former US first lady said that Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid's insulting comment was 'uncalled for and graceless'
