New Delhi, Apr 20: Two days after submitting his resignation over the IPL Kochi controversy, Shashi Tharoor is expected to make a statement in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Apr 20.

Quoting Congress sources, a news agency reported that the decision to let Tharoor speak in the lower house was taken after he met party leaders including senior ministers Pranab Mukherjee, AK Antony and P Chidambaram on Monday, Apr 19.

Sources have revealed that the leader of the house has assured Tharoor that he would be given the chance to speak at any cost.

Last week, when the former UN official tried to make a statement in the Parliament defending himself against the allegations slapped on him, the Opposition created an uproar and did not allow him to speak.

He was, therefore, forced to read it outside the Parliament house to reporters on Friday, Apr 16.

The statement and his explanations failed to convince the Congress ultimately leading to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking him to step down from his ministerial post.

However, there are no details on what was discussed in the meeting between Tharoor and the senior minister.
