BJP leaders protest against price rise during Parliamentary Party meet

New Delhi, Apr 20 (ANI): A day ahead of its public rally over price rise to be held in the capital, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders protested against the soaring prices of essential commodities during the Parliamentary Party meeting here on Tuesday.

The BJP has planned to attack the Central Government in the Parliament on this issue.

The party leaders announced that they would bring Cut-Motion on the Union Budget, when they would seek a special vote on the Budget for the financial year that began on April 1, 2010 and will demand a rollback in petroleum and fertilizer price hikes.

"Tomorrow, we are holding a big rally against price rise and on the similar lines we are bringing cut motions also. Hundreds of thousands of people are coming to join this rally from across the country," said senior BJP leader S. S. Ahluwalia.

"We will ultimately assemble near the Parliament Street after finishing our speech at Ramlila Maidan and try to march towards the Parliament. Let us see what happens tomorrow. But we are bringing Cut Motion," he added.

Meanwhile, the BJP leaders of the Delhi Unit took out a rally in protest of the exorbitant price rise of almost all commodities today.

"We want to inform the central and the state governments that the common man is reeling under the increasing price rise. Be it labourer, women, government servants, etc., every section of the society is suffering from the increasing inflation," said BJP leader Vijay Jolly.

"We oppose it and have carried out this rally against the State and the Central governments," he added.

Rising inflation has put the Congress-led ruling coalition on the back foot, forcing it to defer key economic reforms, including market-determined fuel prices, as it takes on an emboldened opposition in parliament. (ANI)
