Yousuf refuses to appeal against ban, says 'Allah' will decide

Karachi, Apr.18 (ANI): Former Pakistan cricket captain Mohammed Yousuf has said that he has left the matter of his 'indefinite' suspension from international cricket with 'Allah', and that is why he did not appeal for a revocation of the ban imposed on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"I have left the matter to Allah Almighty and did not appeal," replied Yousuf after he was asked as to why he did not appeal against the PCB's punishment like other cricketers who were also slapped with hefty fines and bans.

Meanwhile, the PCB's legal advisor, Taffazul Rizvi, has said that since Yousuf did not file an appeal against the board's decision within the stipulated time, the ban stands final.

"The last date to appeal against the penalties was April 16 and since Yousuf did not challenge the punishment, the ban has attained finality," Rizvi told a foreign news agency.

Yousuf alongwith another former captain Younis Khan was banned for an "indefinite period" by the PCB after an enquiry committee found them responsible for infighting in the team which resulted team's horrific performance in Australia.

Pakistan lost all three Tests, five one-day matches and a Twenty20 international on the Australian tour.

PCB had later clarified that it was not a 'life' ban and as and when the board would consider the players for selection as and when it deems it appropriate.

However, Yousuf retired from international cricket protesting against the PCB's decision.

Besides Yousuf and Younis, another former captain Shoaib Malik and fast bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan were banned for one year and fined two million rupees following the enquiry commission's report.

Pakistan's Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi, and Akmal brothers, Umar and Kamran were also heavily fined for their 'misconduct' during the 'winless' tour Down Under. (ANI)
