Malaysian eatery owners against barring foreign workers

Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia), Apr 18(ANI): Malaysian coffee shop and restaurant owners are unhappy over a ruling that bars foreign workers from serving customers in the country from next month.

According to the West Coast Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owners' Association (WCCSROA), the ruling applies to all eateries, and foreigners will only be allowed to work in the kitchen.

Members of the association said they would be hard hit, as it would not be easy to find locals to replace the foreigners, New Strait Times reports.

Meanwhile, WCCSROA President Dr. Yong Chen Yun met Kota Kinabalu Resource Development Minister Dr. Yee Moh Chai to appeal against the ruling. (ANI)

Malaysian Indian Congress leader sacked for criticizing party

Petaling Jaya (Malaysia), Jan.25 (ANI): Former Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) vice-president M. Muthupalaniappan has been sacked for making statements against the party.According to the Star, Muthupalaniappan was sacked more than a month after receiving a show cause notice from the MIC disciplinary committee following a complaint over his alleged statements in a Tamil newspaper on November 11, 2008 and on an Internet news portal on December 17, 2008.Party disciplinary committee chairman G. Vadiveloo said a letter was sent.....
