'I don't think Rooney would want to join me at Bernabeu,' says Ronaldo

London, Apr 18(ANI): Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo has said he cannot see his former team-mate Wayne Rooney ever joining him at the Bernabeu.

Madrid is plotting to bag Rooney, and will make a staggering 150 million pound bid in this summer's transfer window.

"I am still friends with Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United," News of The World quoted Ronaldo, as saying.

"I think Rooney is very happy in Manchester and even if Real Madrid tried to sign him, I don't think he would want to join me here," he added.

Earlier, certain media reports had suggested that the Spanish football giants Real Madrid are ready to use Ronaldo to lure Rooney to the Bernabeu.

According to reports, Madrid will offer 90 million pounds to Manchester United and a 60 million pounds five year deal to Rooney.

The 24-year-old is in the form of his life with 34 goals this season, and Madrid believes that Ronaldo could help tempt Rooney to switch.

The club is also determined to get back former manager Fabio Capello after the World Cup, and Ronaldo insisted that he would love to see Capello in charge at Real Madrid.

"Definitely. He is a very important coach, one of the best in the world, has done a fantastic job in England and has won many titles in Italy so why not? You never know," he said. (ANI)
