Discovery space shuttle set to return to Earth on Monday

Cape Canaveral, Apr 18(ANI): NASA's space shuttle Discovery and its seven-member crew are expected to return to Earth on Monday after a 14-day mission.

NASA managers will evaluate weather conditions at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida before permitting Discovery to land.

If Discovery is unable to land on Monday, additional opportunities are available at Kennedy on Tuesday, and backup landing site at Edwards Air Force Base, California.

Approximately two hours after Discovery lands, NASA officials will hold a briefing to discuss the mission.

After touchdown, the astronauts will undergo routine physical examinations and meet with their families.

The crew will participate in a post-landing news conference about four and a half hours after landing. (ANI)

NASA orders fix for space shuttle tank

Cape Canaveral, Fla, Aug 25: NASA will replace cracked adhesive beneath the insulation foam on the tanks of the space shuttles, hopefully eliminating a problem that damaged Endeavour's heat shield during its launch earlier this month, the US space agency said today. The work is not expected to delay the shuttle Discovery's launch to install a new module on the International Space Station, currently scheduled for October 23, said shuttle program manager Wayne Hale.
