Tia was found strangled and stabbed after visiting her uncle John Maden's home to watch United play Chelsea on Saturday.
"To hear how this local young girl died has shaken a few players. Their hearts go out to Tia's family. Most players have young families and were upset. United is a family-orientated club," The Sun quoted a club source, as saying.
Meanwhile, Maden, the brother of Tia's mother, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Detectives charged him with Tia's murder and he will appear before a Manchester City Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
A post mortem examination concluded that the 12-year-old died as a result of 'ligature strangulation and a series of stab wounds to her stomach.'
Police have so far declined to release information about the murder weapon, or who made the emergency call. (ANI)
