Modi cries foul, never summoned by SIT

Modi cries foul, never summoned by SIT
New Delhi, Mar 22: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi finally broke his silence over the summon issued by Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Mar 21.

He wrote a letter to SIT stating that he had never received a summon to appear for interrogation.

In the letter which was read out by party General Secretary, Arun Jaitley, the Chief Minister defended himself saying that he was never asked to appear before SIT, which is probing the post Godhra case, on Mar 21.

Modi said that the false report was part of the several attempts to malign him over the last 8 years.

The Chief Minister in his letter said that he would respond to SIT in accordance with the law and will appear before the team when summoned.

Meanwhile, Jaitley said that there was no shred of evidence that Modi was summoned to appear before SIT on Mar 21.

SIT, which was consituted by the Supreme Court to probe into the post-Godhra cases, had directed Modi to appear before it for questioning in connection with the petition filed by Zakia Jaffrey, wife of former Congress MP Ehsan Jaffrey.

Modi has "intentionally omitted to deny the truth in the news item anytime before or on March 21st.Hence, he has let the public believe the news item to be trueand act and express views on that belief. Now, as per law of estoppel, neither nor his reperesntative shall be llowed to deny the truth in the newsitem!'Hence, he has to express regrets to them whom he prefers to call "vested intersts" and "purveyers of untruth"!
