Headley interrogation: NAI to leave for US soon
New Delhi, Mar 22: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is all set to fly to United States to interrogate David Coleman Headley, the LeT operative who pleaded guilty to consiracy in the Mumbai terror attacks.

According to sources, the team will be joined by a senior member of the Union Home Ministry. The date of the trip is likely to be announced on Friday, Mar 26.

Earlier on Mar 20, Home Minister P Chidambaram had said that India will have access to Headley, following an assurance from US Attorney General Eric Holder.

The Home Ministry had said that the India will be ready with its team within a day or two.
 
Meanwhile, media reports said that the US Department of Justice has asked India to be prepared to sent over its intelligence team to question  Headley.

Headley, who pleaded guilty to all the 12 counts of terror charges, including the Mumbai terror attacks, had struck an plea agreement with the US government under which he cannot be extradited to India, Pakistan and Denmark. The plea bargain also rules out death penalty against him.

However, the agreement also provides for Headley can be interrogated by the foreign governments, including India, in the soil.

FBI gets 60 days to file charges against headley
