Assam: Tea estate owner kills child, injures 4
Guwahati, Mar 22: A child was killed and four people were wounded when the owner of a tea estate open fired at the angry protestors, who set his two garden factories and his residence on fire, officials said.

Earlier, the owner of Rani Tea Estate stopped a woman from trespassing through his garden.

The incident sparked off protest from the estate labourers and locals, who assembled together to voice their protest.

Following which the tea estate owner fired at them, killing a child on the spot and injuring four others, officials said.

According to officials, the angry mob set two factories and the owner's residence on fire. They added that the mob even tried to stop the fire tenders from entering the garden.

Tension continues in the area.

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....

I was at the scene when it happened! And this is totallu untrue. First of all the woman from the village was never assaulted. She was just told to leave the property. She used very abusive language to Mr. Bhattacharjee. The mob later came & totally ransacked the place. Looted the farm animals & even tried to kill the owner & his wife! The child never died! They just made up a story!! Ask them where is the dead body!! You guys should write true stories & not get swayed by what the politicians...
