Karachi, Mar 12: With the Pakistani hockey team finishing last in the World Cup for the first time in the history, the team and its management are facing the heat.
While the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has sacked selection committee and team management, the team members have resigned taking moral responsibility for the debacle.
"It is a shameful performance that we have ended up on the last spot in the World Cup, this was something I was not expecting at all from this team," PHF president Qasim Zia said.
Informing that an inquiry committee will be set up to look into the reasons behind the poor performance of the team in the event, Zia said, "The immediate step I could take has been taken, but clearly Pakistan hockey today is at its lowest ebb and we need to take drastic measures to set things right."
Meanwhile in New Delhi, all 18 the players of team tendered their resignations taking responsibility for the poor performance.
The shoddy performance of the Pakistan hockey team added to the country's disappointment over cricket controversies.
