Airtel, Aircel bow to goonda 'Raj' of MNS
Mumbai, Mar 10: Telecom companies became the latest entrants on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS) hit list as the Raj Thackeray-led party took offense to the fact that Marathi is not one of the languages offered on the interactive voice response (IVR) system.

Suspected MNS workers and activists went on a rampage in Bandra (West) and Thane targeting two stores of Airtel. There are reports that Aircel outlets were also targeted in the Tuesday, Mar 9 attack.

MNS' hand is suspected behind the acts of vandalism as the stones thrown at the glass doors of the stores were wrapped in the MNS flags. Besides this, Airtel revealed that it had received a threatening letter from MNS asking it to include Marathi in its IVR system.

Bowing to the goonda raj of Thackeray, both Airtel and Aircel later included the language in the automatic voice system which responds to the customers' calls.

There are reports that both the Telecom companies have written a letter to MNS informing the party that the demand has been met.
